David Roberts Honored by USCT Memorial
Monument Committee
 
2nd Vice-President, David Roberts was recently honored by the United States Colored Troops Memorial Monument Committee for his work with researching the USCT soldiers of St. Mary's County and Congressional Medal of Honor recipients who served during the Civil War. To read more about this event
 

 
New Meeting Location for 2009 - 2010 Year
 
We will be relocating our meeting location to the Leonardtown Library starting with the September, 2009 Year.  The library meeting room will give us access to the internet and allow our speakers to present real time information.  We also will be presenting more teaching sessions and research by using the library's Ancestry Plus and Hertiage Quest websites.
 
Meeting dates are as follows:

Sept. 28th,  Oct. 26th,  Nov. 23rd,  Dec. 14th,  Jan. 25th,  Feb. 22nd, Mar. 22nd, Apr. 26th,

May 24th , and June 28th.    No Meetings in July and Aug.

April 16-17, 2010 – The Virginia Genealogical Society 50th Anniversary Conference in Richmond, VA

April 28 - May 1, 2010 - National Genealogical Society in Salt Lake City, UT

 

January 24-31, 2010. The National Genealogical Society is sponsoring a trip to the Family History Library in Salt lake City, Utah. Marie Varrelman Melchiori, CG, CGL, and Shirley Langdon Wilcox, CG, FNGS, will lead this trip. The trip is open to non-members of the National Genealogical Society. Saturday, March 20, 2010 at 8:30 am. The Virginia Beach Genealogical Society is sponsoring its annual conference. The topic of this conference is “What’s New” and it features Leland K. Meitzler. He was the founder of Heritage Quest, managing editor of Everton’s Genealogical Helper, and owner of Family Roots. Topics to include 1. Organizing, Preserving, Accessing & Sharing Your Genealogy Using Digital Documents & Pictures. 2. Blogging Your Genealogy. 3. USA, State, and Territorial Censuses & Substitutes. 4. Using Tax Records to Extend Your Genealogy. The cost of the conference is $30/$45.

Friday & Saturday, March 26-27, 2010. The Fairfax Genealogical Society will sponsor its spring conference at the Fairfax Marriott at Fair Oaks Mall. Additional details can be found at http://www.fxgs.org/

Friday, April 16, 2010 – Saturday, April 17, 2010. The Virginia Genealogical Society. The Virginia Genealogical Society will hold its 50th Annual Conference in Richmond, VA. Friday will include research at the Library of Virginia, a leadership summit, and a banquet... On Saturday, Victor S. April 28 - May 1. The National Genealogical Society Annual Family History Conference will be held in Salt Lake City, Utah at the Salt Palace Convention Center. Whether your family helped settle the nation, migrated across the country, stayed in the same place, or recently arrived in America, this conference has much to offer. The family history resources in Salt Lake City, Utah, will provide a depth and breadth to your research. The Family History Library has an extensive collection of international records.
